Remembering Historical Figures (1); Manfred Von Richthofen - Crossing the World War 1 Bridge of Acceptance

Dennis Denowski

The Red Baron will always be remembered in history, particularly on this 11th November, 97 years after the year he died. He brought devastation to several countries, with 80 kills credited to his name.

Manfred Von Richthofen’s name is best remembered for his aircraft fighting. However, all of us need to cross that bridge of perfecting our war tactics, and focus on developing our peace tactics. It is possible to cross the bridge, it is possible for humanity to do without aircraft fighting.

As impressive as Richthofen might have been, the lesson we should take from his life is to focus on developing our own unique talents. The only sad aspect about most of the great historical figures in the world, such as the Red Baron, was that they did not use their intelligence to promote peace.

Instead, such intelligent men were always convinced to engage in war fare; using that intelligence to bring misery to other people. In light of the conflicts that are already ongoing in the present day, promote peace. If not for you, then for your children who will live to see the next generation.

97 Years Anniversary, World War 1 Memories

Dennis Denowski

Human beings can only achieve progress and learn from the lessons on the biggest conflicts in history by working together, in the same way that plants illustrate the crucial symbiotic nature of life.

Life can only thrive absent conflict.

As we remember 97 years since the end of the First World War on this 11th day of November, we have to ask ourselves how far human civilization has progressed. There are so many people who died during that conflict, and it begs the question, were their lives worth it?

The First World War actually shows the commitment of human civilization towards their beliefs. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo was as devastating as the assassination of any present-day leader within the borders of a rival nation. No nation right now will tolerate dissent from another nation, particularly taking the life of a loved one.

What we all don’t see, however, is that there is no need to allow the existing boundaries to separate us all. In World War 1, it did not matter whether the casualties were Pro-Allies or not. Death was delivered in the same way that believers chant a religious song in unison. There might have been winners and losers who emerged from the war, but the entire humanity truly lost for ever allowing the conflict.

Alfred von Schlieffen will always be remembered for his massive contribution to this war through his infamous plan. Germany might have reconsidered its position in 1914 had it not been for the existence of such an effective plan. It encouraged war in a specific and efficient manner, and this is the most saddening aspect of human history.

So much time has been spent devising war plans and weapons of mass destruction. The Manhattan Project alone by 1945 had employed over 130,000 people at such an extreme financial cost. As far-fetched as it might sound, had there been peace in the First World War, a considerable effort than was put in would have prevented the second.

Everybody needs to understand that the most constructive way to use your time on earth is to build and create, rather than encourage war and conflict.

There can be nobody in the history of the modern world that can dispute the fact that Adolf Hitler provided a lesson for humanity.

The lesson was not 'Not to Kill Each Other,' the lesson was not 'Not to Try and Take Over Europe or the World,' the lesson was not 'Nazism is bad, nor pacifism or socialism,' but the lesson is that giving up on your own ideas is a personal condemnation of death.

All the destruction and death that the Second World War brought should have taught human beings better. Anyway, Hitler himself states that when human beings finally reach the point of civilization, the greatest philosophies of the world will be put in question.

The greatest civilization in the world. The Roman Empire of Modern Times is the United States. And war is coming; death is going to be delivered like a public service.

Should Socrates Escape From Prison Or Not? Why?
Socrates should escape from prison because it is unlikely that he will get any justice from the system. The legal charges against him are false and his enemies are trying to incriminate him in crimes that are nonexistent. In Apology, Socrates does his best to dismiss the charges brought against him claiming that he is a sophist, he lacks any belief in God and that he is corrupting the young. The long, withstanding work of Socrates was revolving around discovering the facts about life and enlightening the population.

Socrates should escape from prison because, unlike popular belief, he is a philosopher. His work would begin by the Oracle at Delphi, and his quest would be to bring knowledge to the community and make life better. However, popular slander and false accusations from his enemies lead him to an unjust trial and eventual lock up. Remaining in prison would not be a wise option because his enemies control the justice system and have a big influence with the key decision makers of the land. It is unlikely that he will get any justice from the authorities and his best chance of remaining alive and having a prosperous life is escaping from jail.

In his own words, Socrates likens his trial to the bitter taste of the doctor’s medicine and delicious treats in the eyes of children jurors. It is obvious that his enemies are using the tasty treats against him and completely swaying the jurors towards making a decision in their favor. The entire trial is an indication that Socrates is unlikely to get any consideration in case he exhausts any appeal avenues. Therefore, his best chance is to escape from prison and try to explore other options to clear his name.

The jurors and a large part of the country fail to recognize that there is a difference between sophism and philosophy. Socrates was merely attempting to discover the truths about life, exploring different sources of knowledge to discover his facts. It is this in depth search for knowledge that would make him look like an enemy of the country. This is because his claims and beliefs were providing a very different outlook in comparison to those of the established system. The claims that he did not believe in God was simply because scientific evidence was giving a much deeper insight into life.

Socrates strongly believes that there is a big difference between the average man and an enlightened man. The average man is unlikely to cause any problems for the authority because he will live within the confines of the law and seldom question the agents of power. This means that they are likely to get different treatment from a person who has a lot of knowledge and is aware of the fragile nature of society.

Socrates is quick to dispatch any claims that he is wise in order to try and remain in the favor of the jurors. He eventually ends up in jail because his voice as a single person will be difficult to match with the voices of the entire country. His best option is escaping from prison because it will enable him to seek justice and continue his works. This action will be a blatant disregard to the justice system that unfairly ruled in the favor of his enemies.

Petruvin, Hitler's Drug

Many people ask how it is that the Germans, particularly in World War 2, managed to be so effective and successful. Well, the answer to that is simpler than you might think. When Hitler assumed power in 1933, it caused a chain of events that will forever be remembered for the level of their destruction.

Hitler's rise to the Chancellorship brought with it unique complications; first, the people around him viewed him as weak and easy to manipulate, and President Hindenburg was still in power. The latter had never supported Hitler nor the Nazis, so it was with a heavy heart that he appointed him Chancellor on that fateful night.

Several candles were lit during the night Hitler assumed power; little did they know that by six years, an effective drug, petruvin, would fuel Nazi ambitions across Europe. Reports indicate that Hitler was a high consumer of substances, but evidence will never be confirmed truly if petruvin was his drug of preference.

The invasion of Poland in 1939 clearly illustrates this fact; the blitzkrieg policy clearly illustrates this fact.

The madness and effectiveness of relocating both soldiers and weapons through countless fronts in the Second World War was a clear indication of the effects of petruvin. Hitler, although not recorded in most Western historical references, was in conflict with Eva Braun at times partly because of his consumption of drugs.

Can human beings live and function successfully without drugs? The side effects of petruvin certainly do not compare with drugs in the modern day, such as cocaine and heroine. But would Hitler have managed to conquer Europe without come form of drugs for his troops and loyalists?
